In a tragic incident on Thursday night, a North Andover high school senior lost her life, while three other teenagers sustained injuries in a devastating crash on I-495 in Lawrence. The accident occurred just south of Exit 101, casting a pall of sorrow and grief over the close-knit community.

Victim Identified: 18-Year-Old Brenna Caisse

The victim, identified as 18-year-old Brenna Caisse, was a high school senior with a promising future. The news of her tragic demise has reverberated through the Caisse family, the local school, and the wider North Andover community.

Superintendent Gregg Gillian confirmed the identity of the victim and acknowledged the profound impact Brenna had on North Andover High School. Principal Chet Jackson highlighted her strong connections with both staff and fellow students. In response to the tragedy, the School Crisis Response Team has mobilized to provide support and counseling resources for students and staff.

Counseling Resources Offered at North Andover High School

North Andover High School will be open on Saturday, November 11th, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, providing counseling resources to help the grieving community cope with the loss. Superintendent Gillian extended condolences to the families of the other students involved in the accident.

Details of the Accident

The crash unfolded around 9:20 p.m. on Thursday, involving a 2005 GMC Envoy and a Dodge Ram pickup truck towing a fifth-wheel camper. The collision led to a series of tragic events, with the Envoy veering off, striking the guardrail, flipping, rolling down an embankment, and catching fire.

Brenna Caisse and a 17-year-old female were ejected from the Envoy during the crash. While the male sustained minor injuries, Brenna tragically lost her life on the highway. Two other female passengers, aged 15 and 16, managed to extricate themselves from the vehicle and were transported to Lawrence General Hospital along with the other survivors. The 28-year-old driver of the pickup, hailing from Du Bois, Pennsylvania, escaped unharmed.

The Essex County DA’s office is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. The State Police in Andover are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
