Florence police responded to a distressing report of a shooting around 1 p.m. The incident occurred during a suspected road rage altercation between two individuals, where one of them exited his vehicle and approached the other car. This tense encounter ultimately led to a devastating shooting.

The aftermath of the road rage confrontation left one man critically injured. Stephen Stamates was rushed to St. Elizabeth Medical Center and later transferred to UC Medical Centre, but, tragically, he succumbed to his injuries. The loss of Stamates, a 72-year-old resident of Florence, has sent shockwaves through the community.

Following an initial investigation by the Florence Police Department, it was revealed that the shooting was a result of a potential road rage incident. The victim, Stephen Stamates, a senior member of the community, became an unfortunate casualty of this violent encounter.

Suspect in Custody: Arrest Made in Connection with Florence Road Rage Shooting

In response to the tragic shooting, the Florence police apprehended a suspect connected to the incident. 44-year-old Travis Marks of Walton has been taken into custody and charged with one count of murder. Marks is currently held at the Boone County Detention Centre. An arraignment held on Wednesday set Marks’ bond at $1 million.
